The only man in the photo is Max. He was an actor (stage name Max
Dean) of spaghetti westerns in the 1960-70's. Usually the
harmonica-playing side-kick of the hero, never the hero. The woman with
the pearls is Lucilla, a Roman who bought this little house in the
Via Vecchia years ago. It goes down three levels; the lower level was
originally Etruscan tombs - fascinating. Her husband has filled it with
a collection of old tools, metal objects - a private museum. They also
bought an old bread oven and have renovated it into a guest
apartment, sleeping 3...it's only one of the dozens of properties
available in this area for "slow travelers" -those who want to immerse
themselves into the local culture instead of staying at int'l hotels.
